CREATE Business Incubator – Mälardalen Valley
This project offers professional business development support for business concepts to companies with major growth potential in the counties of Västmanland and Södermanland. It serves as a bi-county incubator of which both Teknikbyn and the Munktell Science Park in Eskilstuna each owns a 50% stake. Here, potential is created by supplying venture capital for promising business concepts and entrepreneurs. This results in more rapid generation of business concepts and innovations with international growth potential.
Automation Center
Since the summer of 2007, Teknikbyn has been managing a project with the aim of setting up a centre for automation companies and robotics at Kopparlunden. This project is mainly being run together with Robotdalen [‘Robotics Valley’], but also with Mälardalen University and the Automation Region network. This centre has already opened and is a place to meet that also offers both a laboratory and a customer environment for developing new products, business development and various networking activities.
Kulturbyn [‘Cultural Village’]
Kulturbyn is a new partnership between Teknikbyn, CuLTUREN, ALMI and the Culture, Sports and Leisure-time Committee in Västerås, and aims to increase the level of commercialisation within cultural activities and to establish a constructive forum for technology and culture with the goal of increasing the number of active cultural businesses in Västerås.
KRUT
KRUT is one of several cross-county projects which have been set up or are about to be set up (for example, Dalarna/Gävleborg and Kalmar, respectively) and which are related to the growth and development of the experience and knowledge-based creative economy. A network of contacts is being set up through other Swedish, Nordic and European projects including over 30 partner regions, which are also involved in the development of their cultural and creative resources. This project is being run through collaboration between the following regions: Östergötland, Örebro, Västmanland, Uppsala, Södermanland and southern Småland. The Östsam Regional Development Council is the project coordinator and the project has a role as a national dialogue partner to the Ministry of Culture in business sector issues related to the creative sector.
